חשמל סולארי מהחלל

מאמר התפרסם בכתב עת המדעי Energy Journal טוען כי ייצור חשמל סולארי בחלל ושליחתו לארץ, רעיון ישן שנחשב על גבול המדע הבדיוני, יכול לתת מענה מעשי, כלכלי וסביבתי כבר היום, ואפילו בלוח זמנים קצר יותר מאשר תוספת כורים גרעיניים.

An article in Energy Journal claims that space solar power, an old idea considered to be borderline science fiction, is actually a practical, economical, and environmental solution, and can be realized faster than additional nuclear power.

הסוכנות הבינלאומית לאנרגיה פרסמה שני מסמכי מפת דרכים עבור ייצור חשמל סולארי במסלול התרמי ובמסלול הפוטוולטאי. לפי הערכת מומחי הסוכנות, חשמל סולרי יוכל לספק עד 25% מצריכת החשמל העולמית בשנת 2050.

The Internal Energy Agency has published two roadmap documents for solar electricity generation, in the thermal and photovoltaic paths. According to the expert estimates, solar electricity will be able to provide up to 25% of the global electricity by 2050.
