Israel: Renewable Energy Leader
Israel has been a world leader in Renewable Energy technologies since the 1950's, with breakthroughs such as the selective coating that made solar thermal collectors into a practical device. Next came the Organic Rankine Cycle developed for solar pond power plants and later used in geothermal power plants, and parabolic trough solar power plants built by the Israeli Luz in California.
Today Israeli Renewable Energy industry is still in the forefront with world-class leading companies such as Ormat, Solel, and Luz II; with a mature and thriving solar thermal collector industry; with numerous innovative startups in solar, biofuels, wind and sea power, and other areas of Renewable Energy and energy sustainability; and with a creative and entrepreneurial research community.
